BEER BUSINESS DAILY ARTICLE: "UP-AND-COMING SUPER-PREMIUM PRODUCER, ISLAND BRANDS, BRINGS ON INDUSTRY VET CHAD WEBB AS COO"

BEER BUSINESS DAILY ARTICLE:

Island Brands USA, an up-and-coming supplier super premium beer, has announced its “biggest hire since its 2017 founding” – appointing beer industry vet Chad Webb as its chief operating officer, per company release.

Chad comes to the Charleston, South Carolina-based company with 25 years of industry experience in both the wholesaler and supplier side.

His latest experience in the middle-tier, includes serving as VP/GM of KW Beverage – a red house in Greenville, South Carolina. Prior to that, Chad served as Director of Sales and Marketing for Bealer Wholesale in Charlotte. And before his work in the middle-tier, Chad spent several years as District Sales and Marketing Manager for A-B.

“Chad knows the beer industry inside and out and comes to the table with a long and proven track record for scaling business operations,” Island Brands co-founder and CEO Scott Hansen said in the announcement. “Having a leader of Chad’s caliber is another big win for Island Brands as we continue to accelerate growth and further disrupt the beer space.”

Yes, the three-year-old company is growing up in a hurry, having seen combined sales of its two flagship brands – Island Coastal Lager and Island Active – up above 70% in 2020 to hit nearly $2 million in sales over the year, per IRI data.

Chad appears to have a full plate on his hands in his first year at Island Brands too, as he will oversee the launch of two new brands, Island Lemonada and Island Southern Peach, the opening of 6-8 Island Brands Cabana Bars, and the expansion of the company’s retail distribution. The young company is also gearing up to “fully deploy” its “direct-to-consumer technology apparatus” in an effort to further “engage and nurture [their] rapidly growing and loyal consumer base.”
